Galveston Pt. 2

Two people share a chat at Lucky's Lounge...
Lucky's owner Todd McKenzie reopened the bar after the storm. When he was tearing down an old wall, he found the mural behind him.
Al Castorina stayed through the storm.
"We're hardcore," he said.

Peeking through a broken window in an abandoned home.
Whoever used to live there left a few things behind...
Outside the house, someone strapped an American flag to a tree, perhaps as a last glimmer of hope.
Two tourists walk down the beach...the debris doesn't make for much of a romantic site...
Gas pumps corroded by the sea water remain dormant...
A man walks down the desolate Galveston downtown on Friday evening.
Two more pedestrians travel the downtown streets before sunset.
At a nearby cemetery, a gravestone statue of a young girl stands broken and weathered.

Galveston Pt. 1

So I went to Galveston last weekend for the Texan. First, we took a trip to UTMB.

UTMB's John Sealy Hospital is the only hospital in Galveston and remains at limited capacity.

Erin walks with our tour guide down the lonely hospital hallway, while a nurse looks on.

The office

Richard, the Texan adviser, looks out into the office with a face of longing that only a man with 30 years of experience in small papers could produce.
